Fun to bake and even more fun to decorate, these cookies are perfect for getting the whole family or friends involved in your festive feast.

Ingredients

2½ cups of all-purpose flour
¾ teaspoon of baking powder
½ teaspoon of salt
1 cup of granulated sugar
1 cup of unsalted butter, softened
1 large egg
1 teaspoon of Old Town Spice Shop Pure Almond Extract
1 teaspoon of Old Town Spice Shop French Vanilla Extract
½ teaspoon of Old Town Spice Shop Lemon Sugar (for topping)
½ teaspoon of Old Town Spice Shop Marigold Sugar (for topping)

Directions

Mix the Dough: In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. In a separate bowl, cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add the egg, almond extract, vanilla extract, and sugar. Gradually blend in the dry ingredients until fully incorporated.
Chill and Roll: Divide the dough in half and flatten each half into a disk. Wrap in plastic and chill for at least 1 hour or until firm.
Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
Cut and Bake: On a floured surface, roll the dough to ¼-inch thickness. Cut into shapes with cookie cutters or using a sharp knife. You can also drop by tablespoon on to baking sheet for round cookies. Place on prepared baking sheets, sprinkle with the different flavored sugars for variety, and bake for 8-10 minutes or until the edges begin to brown.
Cool and Decorate: Cool the cookies on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
